The Love Dare For Parents Day Day 17 – Love seeks God’s blessing

Welcome to The Love Dare For Parents Day 17! Today’s dare will take you on a journey of helping your children learn how to see God’s blessings.

Day 17 Dare:

Ask yourself if your lifestyle is inviting God’s blessing on your family or repelling it. What needs to change? Second, choose two or more of the attributes mentioned today and discuss them with your children at a meal. Then pray for God to instill a thirst within both them and yourself to develop these attitudes in your lives.

Day 17 questions:

What things about your family came to mind as you read this day? Which attributes did you choose and why? What did you pick up from your conversation?

What does it mean to seek God’s blessings? The Love Dare For Parents Day 17 points out the importance of the beatitudes. Following the beatitudes leads to God’s blessings.  You can read more about the beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Jesus spoke these beatitudes as part of the Sermon on the Mount. The character traits he mentions result in blesssings. Part of teaching our children to love includes helping the beatitudes become part of their daily lives.

The more us parents incorporate the character traits mentioned in the beatitudes, the more our children will see us living them. If we aren’t living a life of meekness, mercy, purity, etc, then our lives will reflect that to our children.
